Cross

Owl

One of the classes I took at Tat Day 2015 was Riet's Owl.  It was a fun class.  It did however take me a little spell to finish.  Mainly because I let other projects get in the way.  Here are pictures of the finished owl.  I used size 20 thread.  It turned out 3 1/4" tall.

New Shuttle

I received this beautiful Lacewood shuttle in the mail.  It is from David Reed Smith.  I really enjoy using his shuttles.

Elephant Ornament

I converted the Elephant Bookmark designed by Geraldine Starbuck into a Christmas ornament for a gift for an avid University of Alabama Football fan. A fun pattern to tat. It made me think about a possible Noah's Ark tree with all the different animals tatted.

Tat Days 2014

Tat Days was WONDERFUL again this year.  It was so much fun seeing everyone.  I got to meet several first-timers.  The experience of being with so many people who love to tat as much as I do is just amazing.

It started with a Tat N Chat with Jane Eborall at the home of Crazy Mom Tats.  It was such an honor to be included.  Thank you so much Sandra for the thoughtful invite.

Here are the classes I participated in:

Key For Success with Jane Eborall on Thursday night.

Cookie Plate Doily with Karey Solomon - sessions 1 and 2 on Friday.

Button Angel with Martha Ess - session 3 on Friday.

Toffee Candy with Sally Biggers - Early Bird class Saturday, (I actually arrived quite late, but was able to get the pattern before breakfast)

Dogwood Blossom with Erin Holloway - sessions 1 and 2 on Saturday.  I will add leaves to my blossom at some point.

Bobbie's Bauble with Randy Houtz - session 3 on Saturday.  This qualified me to become an Associate Member of Jane's Exclusive Bauble Club.  I plan to attain full member status with a mouse. I must practice, practice, and practice.

I cannot adequately express how much fun I had.  I love being able to finish class projects either before I leave the workshop or during the drive home.  The only one that I did not finish by the time I pulled into my driveway was the Cookie Plate doily, but I had it finished within the week.

If you ever get the chance to attend Palmetto Tat Days, you will have a very rewarding experience.
I can't wait to go back next year.

Hi Everyone, 

 

Time slips away so fast.  It is hard to believe that my last blog post was in August.

 

I did finish the needlepoint Santa.  Here it is before it was framed.

Update on the Tree Top Angel by Tatsy: All the tatted parts are completed.  The face is waiting to be embroidered and then it can be assembled.  Once done, I will post a picture.

Well, all the beautiful pictures of Renulek's Doily have inspired me.  I had to jump on that bandwagon too.  I wanted to use #131 Vineyard Harvest as the main color theme, adding the coordinating colors of #637 Country Grape medium, #644 Boysenberry dark, and  #678 Olive dark.  I like how Fox has the light colored rings approximately in the middle of the doily.  So, I am thinking I may add the #620 Azalea medium there if it blends.  There's plenty of time to decide on that.  Here is progress so far.

Angel in Progress

The tatter's guild to which I belong began the Tree Top Angel by TATSY as a tat along project.  Here is round 1 of the skirt.  There are nine rounds.  This will be a good project to practice my split chains which I avoid as much as possible.   The color is white not the pink shade the picture indicates.

Needlepoint Santa

This is my first attempt at needlepoint.  I love Santa's so when the class was offered, I thought I would try it.  I cross-stitched for years in my early marriage.  I will post a picture when done.  The goal is to be done before Christmas.  We will see...

Jane's Bookmark Cross

Here is Jane McLellan's Bookmark Cross.  The cross design is from Grace Tan.  I used hdt Rainbow Bright from Tatskool in size 20.  The colors look much better than the picture indicates. This was a quick and easy cross to make.  This will definitely be a go to cross that I make when I need a quick gift.  I think in a solid color framed would be nice.

Angels, Angels, Angels

New Shuttle

When Monica Braxton announced that her husband was making these limited edition shuttles, I had to have one to add to my collection.  Each shuttle is signed and numbered and unique as her husband hand crafts each one individually.  When it arrived, I was delighted to see how lovely and light it is.  The shuttle is so easy to use.  Her HDT is scrumptious too.

A Wayward Dragonfly

This dragonfly didn't make it to Georgia for the fundraiser pieces.  I wasn't happy with it, so I didn't even finish it until now.  It will either go in a drawer or possibly a tail of some sort may be added to turn it to a bookmark.  The thread is another hdt from Tatskool color Apple Blossom in size 20.

1919 Square Medallion

I liked this design when I first saw it.  This vintage medallion works up so lovely.  The pattern can be found in the May issue of TATTING TIMES.  I like Karey's slightly modified version with less picots as the square is actually more defined than with the original amount of picots.

The thread is Choco Raspberry by Tatskool in size 20.

Not All Mice are Bad

The Morgan Mouse designed by Wanda Salmans is super adorable.  I will definitely make some Christmas mice for the tatting tree.  I much prefer the lacy kind instead of the breathing kind. 
This one is tatted in Yarnplayer's HDT color Tourmaline in size 20.

A Book with a Bonus

I found this book and ordered it after I was intrigued by the discussion on several blogs about Norma Benporath patterns.  I was happily surprised when I received the book and opened the front cover to discover the three pieces of tatting shown were enclosed.  It looks like the tatted pieces were done in size 80.  The first and largest piece is the beginnings of the center of the Mats For All Occasions pictured on page 63.  The center piece is medallion #6 on page 25.  I cannot find an exact match for the third little round piece. I believe that it is a version of one of the center motifs from the larger mat.  Whoever tatted these pieces did beautiful work--as both the stitches and the tension are remarkable.

Meadow Song Ball

Here is the Meadow Song ball that I FINALLY completed. The pattern appeared in my guild's newsletter in July 2010. That is when it was started.  Then was pushed aside by other things.  But, it bugged me that is was an unfinished project, so I decided it would be done this year.  So in the midst of eggs, I finished it.  The picture is not a real good one, but hopefully you can see all the different elements--the sun with it's ray shining down on the butterflies that are fluttering over the flowers growing from the soil and seeds at the bottom.  It really is a pretty finished ball and fun to tat.  The pattern is from Terry McGuffin, aka Terry The Tatter.
Note: I wrote this post in 2012, but was hoping to take a better picture before posting. Of course, I forgot to add it--so there it SAT as a draft until now. I am working on my blogging.

Dragonflies for Tat Days

Here are some dragonflies I made using Debbie Arnold's "Little Beaded Dragonfly" pattern.  They will be flying away to Georgia Seitz for use on the wall hangings that will be auctioned to raise money for the Tat Days Scholarships.  That pattern was a joy to tat.  Thank you Debbie for sharing your pattern.  My prayers are with Debbie and all the others that have been affected by the Black Forest fire.
